Junk Bond (High-Yield Bond)

What is Junk Bond (High-Yield Bond)?

A junk bond, or high-yield bond, is a bond rated below investment grade, which means a higher chance the issuer will fail to repay.

Why it matters

To compensate for the risk, junk bonds pay higher interest. They tend to behave more like stocks in downturns than safe government bonds do.
