What is Fixed Income?
Fixed income refers to investments that pay a set stream of interest, mainly bonds, certificates of deposit and similar debt.
Why it matters
It provides steadier income than stocks but is still affected by interest rates and credit risk. It is the usual counterweight to stocks in an asset allocation.
