What is Recession?
A recession is a significant, widespread decline in economic activity lasting more than a few months. A common rule of thumb is two consecutive quarters of falling GDP.
Why it matters
Recessions often bring falling profits and rising unemployment, and stocks often fall before and during them. They are also hard to predict.
