Price-to-Earnings (P/E) Ratio

What is Price-to-Earnings (P/E) Ratio?

The P/E ratio is a stock’s share price divided by its earnings per share. It shows how much investors pay for each dollar of profit.

Why it matters

A higher P/E suggests higher growth expectations or a richer price. Compare it only with similar companies and the company’s own history.
