Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - If you're going to read only one news periodical . . .
The Economist should be it. It is the most thorough single news periodical out there, period. Enjoy.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - It Really Is That Good
Read one Economist article, and you'll know why it's considered in a league of its own, and why everyone from business leaders to Prime Ministers to regular people like you and me love it so much.

One of the best attributes the Economist possesses is its ability to present news and analysis on an unsurpassed intellectual level, while at the same time being very much down to earth, at times even getting comical commentary in. I have never once read an article where I sensed bias. I'm ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - If you want to know the state of the world!
OK, this is a British publication, so it will take awhile for the paper version to reach the US audience. The focus is more on national/global economy, and factors ... Read More

It's so good and so informative that it should be required reading for high school and college students.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - competition is the blogosphere, not mass media
The Economist is easily the best publication in the periodical section of any credible bookstore. The scope and intelligence of this magazine make comparisons to mass media outlets like the Sunday New York Times, Newsweek, Time, US News and World Report, etc. laughable. And don't get me started about TV news.

The Economist wades into swampy waters when it obsesses about American politics: over a year's worth of analysis and research resulted in a half-hearted endorsement of John Kerry (Bush ... Read More
